Staff Accountant

Full-time, Onsite

Our client is a licensed producer (LP) focused on the manufacturing and processing of medical and recreational cannabis products.


They are seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in the Markham Area to support day-to-day accounting and financial operations, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across financial reporting and administrative functions.


The Staff Accountant will provide essential financial and administrative support to the company. This includes financial record keeping, payroll, invoicing, reconciling accounts, supporting audits, and assisting with special projects. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of accounting best practices and QuickBooks Online.


The Staff Accountant will interact with both internal teams and external stakeholders, requiring strong communication, professionalism, and confidentiality.


This is a full-time, onsite position based in Markham, Ontario.


MUST be able to be on-site full-time in the Markham area during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.)


MUST have previous experience with all aspects of company financial record-keeping and hands-on involvement in day-to-day transactions, ideally in Manufacturing/Processing, Pharmaceuticals, NHPs and/or the Cosmetics operations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments using QuickBooks Online.
  • Prepare and send customer invoices; enter supplier purchases and reconcile payments.
  • Follow up with customers on outstanding invoices.
  • Generate periodic financial reports for management.
  • Reconcile accounts, noting and reporting discrepancies.
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports relating to expenditures, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and company financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Receive and record bank receipts, prepare deposits, and manage petty cash.
  • Maintain office supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels.
  • Support required HR-related administration and documentation.
  • Enhance organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems and retrieve financial information as needed.
  • Prepare a variety of financial reports for management


Essential Requirements


  • 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, ideally within a regulated or manufacturing industry. (required)
  • Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online (required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • CPA/CGA designation or working towards it (preferred).
  • Strong initiative, ethical conduct, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets).
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of adaptability, professionalism, and confidentiality.


Work Environment


  • Professional office setting within a licensed cannabis production facility.
  • Standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm), onsite presence required.
