Our client, a licensed Medicinal Cannabis cultivation company located in Jersey, Channel Islands, UK is passionate about achieving excellence with their mission to produce the best quality pharmaceutical-grade cannabis in Europe. They have an operational, state-of-the-art cannabis cultivation and production facility, with plans to scale production in the coming years.


They are seeking an experienced cannabis cultivation leader to join their team. This position will oversee all aspects of cannabis cultivation operations, including plant care, breeding program, nutrient management, pest and disease control, harvesting, budgeting and employee training/management.


The role will be responsible for working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that the cultivation facility operates in compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines, including euGMP and GACP. 


MUST have previous experience in a legal, commercial cannabis cultivation facility following GACP/euGMP.


MUST have professional experience cultivating cannabis in a cleanroom setting.


The person is expected to dedicate 100% to this position. They are required to be onsite at the facility full-time and be available outside of business hours as needed.

Relocation & visa support will be provided for the right candidate. 


Responsibilities/Duties:


  1. Manage all aspects of cannabis batch cultivation. 
  2. Lead the pheno-hunting breeding and mother programme. 
  3. Lead the cloning programme to ensure ready supply of production clones with consistent genetics. 
  4. Work with the Engineering Manager to define and monitor plant nutrient levels, irrigation and light schedules. 
  5. Lead the cultivation team including recruitment, day-to-day line management, performance management and personal development. 
  6. Ensure the cultivation team is fully trained on procedures, processes and controls and adheres to SOPs and safety procedures. 
  7. Review, refine and implement cultivation standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
  8. Ensure all stock is accounted for and that cultivation tracking and record-keeping in the inventory system adheres to SOPs. 
  9. Implement, oversee and enforce the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program across the company. 
  10. Ensure compliance with GMP and GACP accreditation requirements across all cultivation processes. 
  11. Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines, including those related to safety, health, and the environment. 
  12. Maintain a clean and organised cultivation facility to ensure the highest level of product quality and safety. 
  13. Work with the Production Manager to schedule and phase batch production to ensure that all production targets are met, optimising resources and facilities to maximise quality and yield cost-effectively. 
  14. Work with the Production Manager and Quality Systems Manager to investigate and resolve quality issues, including complaints and deviations. 
  15. Work closely with the Quality department to ensure that all products meet specifications and have been produced in accordance with GMP and GACP. 
  16.  Keep abreast of the latest cannabis cultivation techniques, genetics and technologies. 
  17. Work with the Management Team to design and implement expansion of companies cultivation and production facilities.


Experience/Skills Requirement


Essential 

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in legal commercial cannabis cultivation following GACP/GMP regulations, ideally at a management level.
  • Degree-level qualification(s) in agronomy, horticulture, botany or plant biology. 
  • Proven track record of success in cultivating and breeding high-quality cannabis at a commercial scale.
  • Experience leading commercial cannabis operations under GACP and EU-GMP. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for Cannabis cultivation. 
  • Experience with leading, managing and training successful cultivation teams. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet production targets. 
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays if required. 
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Services) check.


Desirable

  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Competent computer and Microsoft skills. 


This is a full-time, onsite position, permanent position. It will require relocation to Jersey in the Channel Islands, south of the UK Mainland. Visa and relocation support is being offered to the successful candidate (if required)
