We’re looking to add a Professional Surveyor to our growing team in Charleston, WV, where you’ll have the opportunity to combine your technical expertise with leadership and client interaction. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in shaping the built environment through accurate, precise, and innovative survey work that directly impacts the communities and infrastructure around you.


Responsibilities:

  • Certify legal survey documents by stamping and sealing plats of survey, subdivision maps, right-of-way plats, transportation project plats, certified survey maps, and elevation certificates.
  • Develop and prepare documentation such as legal descriptions and right-of-way materials for property and easement conveyance.
  • Plan, organize, and manage survey projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Lead field survey operations, serving as crew chief when needed, and guiding teams through data collection and project design phases.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of survey data to maintain accuracy and adherence to county, state, and client standards.
  • Compute, adjust, and process survey data for mapping and integration into county and state coordinate systems.
  • Research and analyze boundary data and recorded land status information to support field surveys and mapping procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to build relationships, resolve challenges, and deliver exceptional service.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to survey team members, fostering growth and problem-solving skills.
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development of survey policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support project and team success.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience in field survey operations, data collection, topographic surveys, and field control.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
  • Valid driver’s license, as this position will require frequent travel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying map filing laws to right-of-way and property surveys.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
  • Strong mathematical skills, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of surveying principles, statutes, regulations, and techniques.
  • Client-focused mindset with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
