Location: Remote - United States

Compensation: Starts at $90,000+, based on experience

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team!  

The Senior Mechanical Designer designs HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical building systems in collaboration with licensed engineers, ensuring projects meet client requirements, applicable codes, and Revolution Engineering's design standards. The ideal candidate is an experienced mechanical designer who can independently manage design responsibilities, solve complex project challenges, collaborate across disciplines, and mentor less-experienced team members.

  • Create the discipline design of the project while following the organization’s standards and maintaining AutoCAD and Revit proficiency.
  • Work with the drafting team and designer for setups, updates, and completion of redlines.
  • Prepare the required calculations and code evaluations for review by the engineer.
  • Package documents for submission to the client for deliverables.
  • Attend project and consultant meetings, coordinating cross-discipline team members to ensure project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are met with the support of the Team Lead.
  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems, including equipment selection, system layouts, sizing, and coordination with other building disciplines.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, and other mechanical design calculations required for assigned projects.
  • Apply applicable mechanical, plumbing, energy, and building codes to project designs and documentation.
  • Resolve any discrepancies with the signing engineer.
  • Respond to submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Attend site observation visits and complete reports.
  • Assist the Team Lead to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the team.
  • Mentor team staff to improve performance with the support of the Team Lead.
  • Identify and resolve project issues while developing and managing deadlines with the support of the Team Lead.
  • Manage project documentation and prepare status reports, including kick-off and close-out meetings, with the support of the Team Lead.
  • Facilitate change requests and ensure that all parties are informed with the support of the Team Lead.
  • Update the billing status for projects back to the billing department with the support of the Team Lead.

 

What You Need To Be Successful:  

  • 5+ years of mechanical building systems design experience within an MEP consulting or similar environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related mechanical building systems.
  • Experience performing HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and applicable mechanical design calculations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, energy, and building codes.
  • Ability to independently manage design responsibilities and project deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating designs across architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, drafters, clients, and consultants.
  • Experience taking projects from initial design through construction administration.
  • Demonstrated success working independently in a remote environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • EIT certification.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior designers.
  • Experience supporting project management, including project schedules, budgets, billing status, and financial tracking.
