Acadia is a well-respected underground utility contractor serving the municipal, residential and commercial construction markets primarily in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Acadia’s mission is to provide safe, on-schedule, and superior quality services for all contracted work. We are seeking a Superintendent to join the team!


As a Construction Superintendent (Pipe, Concrete, Dirt, Mechanical, or Specialty), you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating all the activities of a construction site according to project blueprints and schedule plans. Your duties include coordinating subcontractors, performing quality control and safety checks, and providing on-site direction when preparing construction sites. You will coordinate with our Project Managers, Project Coordinators, developers, engineers, municipalities from start to final acceptance of a construction project. You will also review contract documents and maintain the project completion schedule. The primary responsibilities as a Construction Superintendent are to complete organizational and project management responsibilities to effectively lead the construction team and ensure they have all the resources they need.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage crews of workers on your jobsites, including work schedules, project progress and resource allocation
  • Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to determine budget and timeline
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
  • Create schedules for workers and subcontractors
  • Maintain a daily log for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary
  • Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
  • Communicate changes in work scope to the project team
  • Communicate and problem solve conflicts and constructability issues with the project team
  • Implement management techniques that are safe, cost-effective, and efficient
  • Other duties as assigned

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Construction Management degree and/or High Scholl Diploma with 3 to 5 years municipal or residential construction superintendent experience is preferred.


The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:

  • Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Knowledge of construction management best practices
  • Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies
  • Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
  • In-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations
  • Great problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal-setting and conflict management
  • Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization and multitasking
  • Organized with proficient time management skills.
