We are currently seeking a Product Development Specialist to support new business opportunities and existing customer programs by creating, maintaining, and ensuring the accuracy of critical product and part data within Bossard's ERP system. This is a highly detail-oriented, data-driven role that combines technical drawing interpretation, ERP system management, data entry, and cross-functional collaboration. 

 

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with large amounts of detailed information, reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and maintaining accurate product records in an ERP environment. This is not an IT or software development position; rather, it is a technical product data role supporting Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing. 

 

Explore your tasks and responsibilities 

  • Create new parts within the ERP system for RFQs and awarded business, ensuring all part attributes, specifications, customer information, and supporting data are entered accurately and completely. 
  • Perform a significant amount of detailed data entry and data maintenance while maintaining a high level of accuracy. 
  • Review customer drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and engineering documentation to verify that ERP part information matches source documentation. 
  • Read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings to support accurate product and part setup. 
  • Review revision-level changes on existing parts and update ERP records to reflect current customer drawings, specifications, and requirements. 
  • Identify and correct data entry errors, missing information, and inconsistencies to maintain accurate and reliable product records. 
  • Perform data migration activities, including importing, exporting, reviewing, and validating product data between systems. 
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to gather required part information and resolve data discrepancies. 
  • Serve as a liaison between functional teams to help improve product data processes, procedures, and overall system quality. 
  • Maintain documentation related to part creation procedures, data standards, and migration processes. 
  • Assist with training and supporting users on ERP part-data processes and best practices. 
  • Analyze information from multiple sources to ensure product records are complete and accurate. 
  • Support new customer opportunities and existing customer programs through timely and accurate part setup. 
  • Other duties may be assigned. 
  • No travel is required for this position. 

 

Specifications and Qualifications 

Education and Experience 

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. 
  • 2-5 years of experience working within an ERP system is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Previous experience creating, maintaining, or managing product, part, item master, or technical data is highly desirable. 
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial distribution, engineering, supply chain, or a similar technical environment is preferred. 
  • Experience with fastener products is a plus. 
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort performing a high volume of data entry and data validation. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and 2D/3D CAD drawings. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments. 
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate information, and make accurate updates based on technical documentation. 

 

Computer/System Skills 

  • ERP system experience is required. 
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Adobe Acrobat 
  • Experience entering, reviewing, maintaining, and validating detailed product or part data within an ERP system.
