Compensation: Up to $85k annually DOE 

 

 

 

The Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) is a nonprofit professional association dedicated to supporting and advancing water resource management across the state of Georgia. Founded in 1932, GAWP serves thousands of water and wastewater professionals by providing education, technical training, professional development, and industry advocacy. Through conferences, workshops, and certification-focused programs, GAWP promotes best practices, sound public policy, and the responsible management and protection of Georgia’s water resources while fostering a strong professional community within the water sector. 


The Drinking Water Instructor delivers technical training to adult learners in the water and wastewater industry through in-person classes, virtual instruction, and off-site programs. This role supports curriculum development, operates training equipment, and ensures a safe, engaging learning environment. 


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Deliver classroom and virtual instruction to adult learners in water and wastewater operations 
  • Facilitate week-long in-person training programs and occasional off-site trainings 
  • Develop, update, and maintain curriculum, training materials, demonstrations, and presentations 
  • Ensure instructional content aligns with current state regulations and industry best practices 
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot training equipment and classroom tools 
  • Monitor student safety and comfort during instruction 
  • Provide professional, clear, and engaging presentations to diverse audiences 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant professional experience 
  • Background in water and wastewater operations or professional training/instruction experience 
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint 
  • Ability to explain technical concepts related to water and wastewater systems, including math and science (physics, chemistry, biology) 
  • State or National Water/Wastewater Certifications preferred but not required
