Wagner Foodservice is a family owned Broadline Foodservice distributor. Located in the heart of Glen Burnie, Maryland, our Customer-Centric attitude gives us a unique bond to build lasting relationships with our customers and employees in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are hiring a Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join our team.

 

The COO, a key member of the executive team, is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring the efficient and effective distribution of food products. The COO will drive operational excellence, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with industry standards to achieve optimal performance and customer satisfaction in the food distribution industry.

 

The COO focuses on optimizing operations, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and driving growth. The COO will be expected to implement innovative solutions to improve logistics, inventory management, and customer service. Also, the COO will be expected to lead cross-functional teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards. Additionally, the COO will manage budgets, streamline processes, and achieve organizational goals in a competitive and dynamic market.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Manages all aspects of operations, including procurement, warehousing, distribution, delivery, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Ensures the smooth and efficient flow of goods from suppliers to customers, optimizing inventory management and delivery processes.
  • Identifies areas of improvement and develops and implements strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
  • Oversees supply chain operations, including sourcing, procurement, and vendor management.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers and partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective sourcing of food products.
  • Ensures adherence to food safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Implements and maintains quality control procedures to meet health and safety requirements and ensure the integrity of food products.
  • Develops and manages operational budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Monitors financial performance of operations and implements strategies to achieve financial targets and improve profitability.
  • Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering timely and accurate orders, resolving issues, and addressing customer feedback.
  • Collaborate with the sales department to implement strategies to enhance customer service and strengthen relationships with key clients.
  • Utilizes technology and data analytics to optimize operations, improve supply chain management, and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability aligning with mission and vision across all departments.
  • Plan and implement training, continuous improvement, and professional development initiatives for managers and their subordinates.
  • Stays abreast of all changing regulations, industry trends, and advancements to incorporate innovative solutions and practices into operations.


COMPETENCIES:

  • In-depth understanding of supply chain management, logistics, warehousing, and distribution practices. Experience in the food distribution industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements to ensure that operations adhere to legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, balancing risk and reward to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and persuasively to various stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong focus on maintaining high standards of quality control to ensure the integrity and safety of food products.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Chief Operations role, with significant experience in the food distribution or logistics industry.
  • Proven track record of executing execute strategic operational plans that align with company goals.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex operations, improving processes, and driving operational growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
