We are looking for a Vice President of Operations to join our team.
The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for leading and overseeing the operational excellence of all Miller manufacturing locations. This position will ensure streamlined production, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to safety and quality standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Vice President of Operations will further be responsible for aligning operational strategies with corporate goals, delivering measurable results across all plant locations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve company objectives in safety, quality, production, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to set long-term goals, budget plans, and performance metrics.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all plant locations, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Plant Management:
- Provide leadership and support to plant managers, ensuring alignment of operational activities with company objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate plant performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Resource Optimization:
- Manage and allocate resources effectively, including workforce, equipment, and materials, to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Drive efficiency improvements in production scheduling, capacity planning, and supply chain coordination.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards across all operations.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability, leading initiatives to reduce incidents and enhance workplace safety.
Team Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Mentor and develop plant managers and other key personnel to enhance leadership capabilities and operational expertise.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to identify trends, drive decision-making, and measure the success of operational initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular reports to the executive team on operational performance, risks, and opportunities.
Customer Focus:
- Ensure operations are aligned with customer requirements, delivering high-quality products on time and within specifications.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to address customer concerns and drive satisfaction.
Innovation and Technology:
- Identify and implement innovative technologies and automation to enhance manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to ensure the company remains at the forefront of the metal fabrication sector.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (preferably in manufacturing).
- Demonstrated experience in multi-plant operations and scaling manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and other operational excellence tools.
- Proven track record of achieving measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and manufacturing software.
- Ability to travel between plant locations, as needed. Limited overnight travel may be required (less than 10%).
