Deposit Operations Manager

Location: Kansas City, MO (Headquarters)

The Numbers: 80K – 120K+ Base Comp (flexible based on operational leadership experience, systems exposure, and breadth of deposit operations responsibility)

The Big Picture

This opportunity sits within a well-capitalized community bank with approximately 400MM in assets and a long-standing commitment to relationship banking and serving the communities around it. Unlike larger institutions where responsibilities are often heavily segmented, this environment rewards professionals who enjoy seeing how the entire operation works and taking ownership of outcomes across multiple areas.

The Mission

Lead the day-to-day execution of the bank's deposit operations function while serving as a key resource for both internal teams and external partners. This is equal parts operations leadership, problem-solving, and relationship management. Success comes from keeping systems, people, and processes aligned while ensuring clients and internal stakeholders receive timely, accurate support.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

  • Operations Leadership: Lead and develop a small deposit operations team while maintaining accountability for daily workflow execution.
  • Deposit Expertise: Oversee operational areas including account maintenance, ACH, wires, exceptions, reconciliations, and deposit-related servicing functions.
  • Internal Partnership: Work directly with lending, retail, compliance, accounting, and leadership teams to solve issues and improve processes.
  • Vendor Coordination: Serve as a primary point of contact for key operational vendors and technology partners.
  • Process Improvement: Identify workflow bottlenecks, strengthen controls, and improve the efficiency of the bank's deposit operations environment.

Your Toolkit

  • The Battle Scars: Experience in deposit operations, bank operations, treasury operations, retail operations support, or related banking functions.
  • Technical Mastery: Familiarity with ACH, wire processing, account maintenance, core banking systems, exception processing, or related operational functions.
  • Leadership Edge: Prior supervisory, team lead, or operational management experience is preferred, though strong future leaders are encouraged to explore the opportunity.
  • Communication Threshold: Comfortable working with frontline staff, leadership, auditors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

The Payoff

  • Professional Autonomy: Lead a highly visible function where your judgment and operational input directly impact the organization.
  • Culture & Trajectory: Community bank environment where strong operators gain exposure well beyond a single silo or department.
  • Competitive Package: 80K – 120K+ base comp plus benefits and long-term leadership growth potential.
