The Numbers: $70,000 – $95,000 Base Salary (Commensurate with LIHTC and complex credit experience)


The Big Picture Our Client is a mission-driven, 75-year-old certified CDFI that serves as the economic heartbeat of Kansas City. In a landscape where affordable housing is a critical pillar of community stability, they stand out as a primary facilitator of high-impact developments. They are looking for an Affordable Housing Analyst who wants to move beyond "standard" real estate spreading and instead become a specialist in the intricate world of tax-credit-driven community development.


The Mission Your goal is to be a Multiplier of Impact. As the Affordable Housing Analyst, you are responsible for the ongoing analysis and underwriting of developments utilizing state and federal programs, specifically the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. You aren't just reviewing loan files; you are working with the CBIO to manage high-level relationships with developers and tax credit syndicators. The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

  • LIHTC Underwriting: Conduct deep-dive analysis and underwriting for affordable housing developments, navigating the specific nuances of state and federal tax credit programs.
  • Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for housing developers, syndicators, and vested industry partners, representing the bank's brand in the market.
  • Portfolio Oversight: Implement and review the portfolio of stabilized housing developments, ensuring ongoing compliance with loan documents and technical requirements.
  • Strategic Growth: Partner with the CBIO to identify new lending opportunities and creative ways to multiply the bank’s impact within the affordable housing industry.
  • Technical Monitoring: Maintain rigorous oversight of the loan portfolio, monitoring for compliance and ensuring the "Safe Harbor" of the bank's lending practices remains intact.


Your Toolkit

  • The Battle Scars: 3+ years in bank credit or commercial lending, with a specific focus on construction lending and affordable housing industry norms.
  • Technical Mastery: Core competency in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. You understand the "rules of the road" for complex tax credit structures.
  • Quantitative Rigor: Expert-level Excel modeling skills and the ability to interpret complex financial statements and legal documents.
  • CDFI Knowledge: A working understanding of Community Development Financial Institutions and their unique role in funding affordable housing.
  • Communication Edge: The ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels—from non-profit developers to executive bank leadership.
