Advisory Billing Specialist

Location: Overland Park, KS (Where the magic happens)

The Numbers: $65K – $80K Base (Non-Exempt) + Bonus Potential

The Big Picture

Our Client is a rapidly growing, highly regarded RIA powerhouse located in the heart of Overland Park. They have built a national reputation by empowering independent financial advisors with superior services and "unreasonably excellent" support. In a world of automated chatbots and offshore call centers, our client wins by being a high-touch, innovative partner that actually cares about the details.

The Mission

As the Advisory Billing Specialist, you are the guardian of the firm's revenue cycle. This isn't just data entry; it’s a high-impact role where accuracy meets advisor advocacy. You will own the monthly and quarterly billing cycles, ensuring that every fee is analyzed, adjusted, and uploaded with surgical precision. You’ll be the go-to resource for advisors, helping them troubleshoot issues and providing the kind of service that builds lifelong professional relationships.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

  • Billing Command: Own the end-to-end billing runs, including custodian uploads (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing) and fee analysis.
  • The Troubleshooter: Field inquiries from advisors regarding client billing. You’ll investigate discrepancies and provide clear, empathetic resolutions.
  • Custodial Coordination: Work directly with custodial firms to resolve account issues and ensure the "pipes" are flowing smoothly.
  • Process Evolution: Collaborate with the Advisory Billing Manager on special projects to enhance internal operations and data accuracy.

Your Toolkit

  • The Battle Scars: 4+ years of investment operations experience, with at least 2 years specifically in advisory billing.
  • Tech Power User: You are a pro in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and formulas are your second language). Experience with Microsoft Access is a major plus.
  • The Platforms: You’ve spent significant time inside Charles Schwab, Fidelity, or Pershing institutional platforms.
  • The Mentality: You possess a "positive-only" attitude and the ability to pivot when firm priorities shift. You enjoy the fast-paced nature of a growing firm.
  • The Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree and a Series 65 or 7 are preferred, but your track record in RIA operations is what matters most.

The Payoff

  • Compensation Detail: A competitive base salary of $65K – $80K (commensurate with experience) plus performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive Perks: A full-suite benefits package including premium Health plans, a 401(k) match, and a culture that actively invests in your professional development.
  • Impact: Work in an environment that values "Collaborating Courageously" and "Evolving with Purpose."

Our Partnership Approach

Thank you for trusting Lupton Partners with your career transition. We take immense pride in our work, but our focus is always on the outcome—for both the candidates we represent and the companies we serve.

If the first role we discuss isn't the perfect fit, we won't force it. Our goal is to land you in the right place, not just the next place. We also recognize that career changes—even the most exciting ones—come with a side of stress. That’s normal. We’re here to handle the heavy lifting and provide clarity at every step.

What to Expect

  • The Introduction Call: This is a high-level chemistry check. We’ll dive into your history, map out your career goals, and get real about compensation and advancement targets.
  • Active Searches: We’ll match your story to our clients' needs. We keep compensation targets front-and-center so nobody’s time is wasted.
  • Client Submissions: It is our promise that we do not present your name or credentials to clients without clear communication and your explicit permission. To keep the process clean, please hold off on direct applications to our clients once we’ve engaged.
  • Interview Feedback: This is where we earn our keep. Call us as soon as you hit the parking lot. If you think you fumbled a question or found a better answer ten minutes too late, let’s talk—we can often help navigate the recovery.
  • Background Checks: Transparency wins here. If there’s a potential red flag in your background, drug screen, or credit report, tell us now. We can often manage the narrative if we know the facts, but surprises usually end the process.
  • Offers: No surprises. We’ll walk through a verbal offer together before the formal letter arrives. Since we align on numbers in our first call, this stage should be a “green light” celebration.
