Account Manager – Specialty Lines (Broker & Agent Support)

Location: Kansas City, MO (Crown Center District | Onsite 5 Days/Week | Paid Parking Provided)

The Numbers: 65K – 86K Base Comp (Commensurate with specialized supplemental health/broker-support background)

The Big Picture

Our client is an established, century-old national insurance and financial services group operating a specialized underwriting and product division based in Kansas City. Backed by institutional longevity and broad national distribution, this focused operational arm delivers niche supplemental health and specialty protection products directly through an independent producer and brokerage network. The culture combines downtown corporate stability with a tight-knit, collaborative operations desk that eliminates red tape for writing producers.

The Mission

This desk acts as the operational nerve center between independent agents, general agencies, and internal underwriting desks. Rather than servicing individual retail insureds or running a transactional call queue, your mandate is to champion the broker relationship—owning case management, product issue resolution, and operational throughput for specialty and supplemental health programs. You will provide the operational backbone that keeps high-volume producer relationships intact and growing.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

  • Broker & Distribution Support: Serve as the dedicated operational liaison for appointed brokers and independent agencies, guiding complex supplemental and specialty benefit submissions from quote to issue.
  • Case Management & Throughput: Partner directly with internal underwriting, compliance, and policy administration teams to resolve policy bottlenecks, coordinate exceptions, and accelerate speed-to-issue.
  • Product & Program Fluency: Educate writing producers on policy parameters, program mechanics, state variations, and specialized rider offerings across supplemental health and specialty lines.
  • Process Mastery: Manage agency correspondence, policy endorsements, and pipeline tracking within enterprise management systems, maintaining flawless data integrity and response velocity.

Your Toolkit

  • The Battle Scars: 3+ years of account management, broker support, or case management experience within insurance carrier, MGA, or general agency environments. Prior exposure to supplemental health, voluntary benefits, disability, or specialized life/health products is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Mastery: Comfort navigating policy administration platforms, CRM workflows, producer portals, and rating tools. Fluency with broker licensing standards and carrier submission workflows.
  • Detail Threshold: High accuracy in handling complex plan designs, rate schedules, and compliance-sensitive policy documentation under steady production cycles.
  • Communication Edge: Polished, assertive business-to-business communication skills capable of earning credibility with independent brokers, agency principals, and carrier executives.

The Payoff

  • Professional Autonomy: Direct ownership of broker operational relationships without retail call center metrics, retail scripts, or outbound sales quotas.
  • Culture & Trajectory: Work alongside tenured specialty insurance leaders in a central Crown Center office with covered parking provided, walkable dining, and clear long-term career pathways within an expanding national carrier group.
  • Competitive Package: Strong base salary in the 65K – 86K range, robust enterprise benefits, paid downtown parking, and institutional retirement support.

  • Client Submissions: It is our promise that we do not present your name or credentials to clients without clear communication and your explicit permission.
