Chief Credit Officer (CCO)

Location: Overland Park, KS (Where the magic happens)

The Numbers: $125K – $160K Base + Bonus Potential & Benefits

The Big Picture

Our Client is a staple of the Overland Park community, built on the belief that banking is about people, not just transactions. While the "Big Banks" are busy automating everything, our client is doubling down on relationship-driven service and local decision-making. They have cultivated a culture where every team member is an owner and every client is a partner. This is a rare opportunity to join a stable, respected institution where your expertise directly impacts the local economy and the firm's long-term legacy.

The Mission

Your goal is to be the Architect of the Loan Portfolio. As the Chief Credit Officer, you aren't just a "gatekeeper"—you are a strategic leader sitting at the executive table. You will oversee credit risk across the entire portfolio, ensuring that growth never comes at the expense of quality. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a high-quality credit culture, mentoring a dedicated team, and ensuring the bank remains bulletproof in the eyes of regulators. If you believe in common-sense lending and have a passion for community banking, this is your seat.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

  • Strategic Oversight: Lead credit risk management and ensure the health and performance of the loan portfolio.
  • Policy Leadership: Maintain, enforce, and evolve loan policies to stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory shifts.
  • Executive Reporting: Act as the voice of the portfolio, reporting health and strategy to the President, Loan Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Team Mentorship: Lead, hire, and develop the credit team. You are responsible for ensuring the next generation of credit professionals is well-trained and empowered.
  • The Deep Dive: Review large loan packets, lead impairment analysis, and run stress tests to keep the bank’s foundation solid.

Your Toolkit

  • The Battle Scars: 5–7 years of accounting/finance experience, specifically including a deep background in Commercial Lending. You must have hands-on experience navigating complex commercial credits and 2–5 years of leadership inside a financial institution.
  • The Knowledge: Deep expertise in commercial credit risk, policy development, and banking regulations.
  • The Communication: You can translate complex risk data into actionable insights for the Board and collaborative guidance for the loan officers.
  • The Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

The Payoff

  • Compensation Detail: A base salary of $125K – $160K plus performance-based bonus potential.
  • Executive Perks: Comprehensive health benefits, retirement planning, and professional development support.
  • The Culture: Work in an environment where your voice is heard, and you have the autonomy to shape the credit strategy of a growing community bank.

Our Partnership Approach

Thank you for trusting Lupton Partners with your career transition. We take immense pride in our work, but our focus is always on the outcome—for both the candidates we represent and the companies we serve.

If the first role we discuss isn't the perfect fit, we won't force it. Our goal is to land you in the right place, not just the next place. We also recognize that career changes—even the most exciting ones—come with a side of stress. That’s normal. We’re here to handle the heavy lifting and provide clarity at every step.

What to Expect

  • The Introduction Call: This is a high-level chemistry check. We’ll dive into your history, map out your career goals, and get real about compensation and advancement targets.
  • Active Searches: We’ll match your story to our clients' needs. We keep compensation targets front-and-center so nobody’s time is wasted.
  • Client Submissions: It is our promise that we do not present your name or credentials to clients without clear communication and your explicit permission. To keep the process clean, please hold off on direct applications to our clients once we’ve engaged.
  • Interview Feedback: This is where we earn our keep. Call us as soon as you hit the parking lot. If you think you fumbled a question or found a better answer ten minutes too late, let’s talk—we can often help navigate the recovery.
  • Background Checks: Transparency wins here. If there’s a potential red flag in your background, drug screen, or credit report, tell us now. We can often manage the narrative if we know the facts, but surprises usually end the process.
  • Offers: No surprises. We’ll walk through a verbal offer together before the formal letter arrives. Since we align on numbers in our first call, this stage should be a “green light” celebration.
