Overview

Lupton Partners is recruiting for the position of Chief Credit Officer (CCO) on behalf of Our Client, a respected financial institution known for its customer-first approach and strong community banking culture.

As a member of the executive team, the CCO will oversee credit risk across the loan portfolio, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. This includes developing and maintaining credit policies, managing regulatory compliance, and leading the credit team in building a sustainable, high-quality credit culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead credit risk oversight and ensure the quality and performance of the loan portfolio.
  • Maintain and enforce loan policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor industry trends, economic changes, and regulatory updates to guide credit strategy.
  • Report portfolio health to the President, Loan Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Manage and develop the credit team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee internal credit training programs and ensure the credit function remains well-staffed and informed.
  • Review large loans, develop loan packets, and lead impairment analysis and stress testing.
  • Conduct and oversee internal loan reviews and annual policy updates.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7 years of accounting/finance experience, including 2–5 years in financial institutions and leadership roles.
  • Deep knowledge of credit risk, policy development, and banking regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on collaboration and results.
