National Business Development Manager / Project Manager

We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Business Development Manager – Project Manager to lead national business development, financial performance and commercial risk. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape growth, expand market presence and protect the organisation’s commercial health. You will drive pipeline conversion, oversee commercial frameworks, manage contracts and guide financial reporting across the business. This role suits a commercially minded project manager or BD leader with strong industry networks and the ability to influence at all levels.
Responsibilities
● Develop and execute the national business development strategy to support growth, diversification and market expansion.
● Identify new clients, sectors, regions and opportunities through market research and competitor analysis.
● Build, maintain and convert a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
● Oversee financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, margins, project financials, WIP and reporting.
● Lead commercial and contractual management including reviews, negotiations, variations, claims and dispute resolution.
● Assess and mitigate commercial and financial risks across all projects and operations.
● Provide timely market insights, sales forecasts and financial reports to senior leadership.
About You
● Extensive experience in business development, strategy, or senior project management within professional services, engineering, construction, or related industries.
● Proven ability to lead national initiatives, build strong client relationships, and secure new business opportunities.
● Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen and risk awareness, with experience guiding organisational decisions.
● Skilled in contract negotiation, stakeholder management and high-level communication.
● Demonstrated ability to operate at a senior leadership level and influence across all parts of a business.
● Highly proactive, analytical and capable of managing complex, multi-layered responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
