Purpose

  • Drive and facilitate the assessment and execution of strategically important transactions for the Group across Asia region, including M&A, partnerships, joint ventures and strategic investments
  • Drive the development of market and competitor monitoring and knowledge database to facilitate transaction activities


Key accountabilities

  • Driving the assessment of inorganic opportunities, together with internal stakeholders (Local BUs, Group Distribution/NBM, Group M&A etc), against Polaris and the local business strategy
  • Driving the execution of Inorganic Activities for the Group in Asia, including (without limitation) merger and acquisition, strategic investment, strategic joint venture, bancassurance partnerships, restructuring and divestment, and any such other similar activities throughout the year, across the different markets
  • Driving and supporting a range of responsibilities for the Inorganic Activities, including building business case, coordinating due diligence, driving valuation and financial models, supporting presentations and approval materials preparation to facilitate a timely and robust decision-making process
  • Specific assignments will be dependent on the project pipeline and can span across (a) leading entire projects relatively independently bringing issues to the M&A Senior Team or the SMT as required to (b) leading specific workstreams or deliverables within a large M&A project. For both (a) and (b), the role will require the individual to take timely decisions and / or propose fact-based recommendations to the SMT for approval
  • Preparing transaction material, including bid letters, management meeting materials and transaction documentations
  • Providing guidance on the review of transaction documentation together with Group functional teams (including Group Distribution, Group NBM, Group Legal, Group Finance & Actuarial, Group Transformation etc) and external advisors
  • Driving and/or participating in industry analysis that would provide insights and impact FWD strategy vis-à-vis inorganic activities
  • Fostering collaboration with Group functional teams, local business unit teams, external consultants and parties to support transaction process
  • Delivering (and/or providing guidance on) quantitative anmmmd qualitative analyses and researches in addition to transactions with limited guidance, such as industry and competitor


Qualifications / experience

  • 8-12 years relevant working experience for candidates from inhouse insurance M&A, corporate development, and/or actuarial functions, financial services consulting, management consulting or transaction advisory background
  • Candidate with professional qualification (e.g. CPA / CFA / Qualified Actuary) will be an advantage
  • Ability to coordinate and work with internal stakeholders with limited guidance

Knowledge & technical skills

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business from an accredited college/university; CFA and/or CPA is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience across Asian insurance markets required. Relevant experience in insurance is a must-have
  • Understanding of insurance related business and financial metrics
  • Strong strategic, analytical, modelling, accounting, valuation and corporate finance skills
  • Great written and verbal communication skills, with a good understanding of business dynamics and commercial value drivers
  • Collaborative in nature to work with internal and external parties
  • Independent and innovative thinker
