Head of Treaty Property Underwriting (SG)

You will lead the Property Treaty Underwriting team in Singapore and you will be responsible for profitable growth and underwriting quality of Munich Re’s South East Asia portfolio.


Your job:

  • Underwriting quality: help develop and set the underwriting standards that are market relevant for sustainably steering the South East Asia Region portfolio; ensure underwriting excellence within the unit; supervise underwriters; drive the dialogue and personnel exchanges between underwriting teams; cooperate with central functions for relevant underwriting related topics.
  • Product strategy: develop, further enhance and successfully implement the strategies for the South East Asia business; ensure the alignment of strategies between treaty and facultative business and with the market/client strategies; proactively support client management by exploring new business fields and helping to grow the portfolio profitably; contribute to the annual planning process with sound underwriting input.
  • Client-facing / Marketing: drive Munich Re’s thought leadership in the region on underwriting topics and pro-actively offers clients tailor-made solutions (market visits, presentations, client workshops); conduct negotiations with clients and clearly explain very complex technical concepts to a client in an inspiring manner in close cooperation with the client management team.
  • Firm building: support the divisional and house wide quality assurance in Underwriting e.g. via participation in projects or conducting trainings.
  • Leadership / Management: optimize the resource management within the team based on expert know how, competency development and business needs; create an open feedback culture and a challenging, supportive and rewarding work environment for team members to expand professionally; embrace Munich Re’s leadership values.
  • Driving the SEA portfolio profitably with focus on bottom-line growth and sustainability.


Your profile:

  • Relevant industry qualification, preferably in Sciences, Accounting & Mathematics
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in underwriting or reinsurance
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
