Role Summary
A leading global alternative investment firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Product Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert for APAC insurance clients. This role focuses on supporting business development, relationship management, and technical operations.
The successful candidate will partner with regional leadership to provide expert insights and technical knowledge, delivering tailored investment solutions. You will play a crucial role in engagement across the APAC region, focusing on asset allocation, portfolio repositioning, and adapting analytical tools to local regulatory contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Advisory: Provide technical expertise on APAC insurance regulations, including capital charges, risk aggregation, and reporting requirements.
- Portfolio Strategy: Contribute to financial models and analytical frameworks for portfolio optimization, considering investment yield enhancement, accounting implications, and balance sheet resilience.
- Client Engagement: Participate in client projects, respond to technical requests, and deliver impactful strategy presentations to prospective institutional investors.
- Market Intelligence: Research and prepare content on insurance market trends, peer analysis, and regulatory updates impacting the Asian market.
- Internal Liaison: Act as a bridge between Asset Allocation, Investment, and Relationship Management teams to ensure cohesive portfolio construction.
- Thought Leadership: Support the development of the firm’s insurance ecosystem through content production and market insights to position the firm as a trusted advisor.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years in asset management with robust knowledge of local insurance regulations (specifically Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, S. Korea, and Taiwan).
- Technical Expertise: Strong actuarial and investment knowledge, including hands-on experience with ALM, matching adjustments, and risk aggregation across asset classes (specifically private credit).
- Client Acumen: Proven understanding of insurance companies’ investment needs, risk appetites, and balance sheet challenges.
- Communication: Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to tailor complex technical data for executive-level presentations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Sciences, or a related field; MBA or CFA designation is preferred.
- Technical Tools: Proficiency in financial modeling; knowledge of programming languages like Python or MATLAB is a significant plus.
- Languages: Fluency in English; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
