Job Description

About the role:

The role of the Senior Associate within our Japan based platform will be focused on the M&A, investment and financing activities within the Wealth Solutions group. ** is insurance arm of **, engaging in reinsurance and strategic investment in insurance sector. Specific activities for the role include performing complex financial analysis, modelling and valuations, conducting research and due diligence and presenting investment recommendations. 


Responsibilities:     

  • As a member of the newly created team of **'s Asia business, the Associate will assist in developing **s' profile and business in Japan.
  • Preparation and presentation of materials and analysis to present transactions to internal investment committees and third-party investors.
  • Support the team with modelling, presentation packs, research, and due diligence.
  • Development and interpretation of detailed financial models including valuation and credit analysis.
  • Conduct research to support the development of investment strategies and identify transaction opportunities.
  • Assisting with new client investments in **’s products and opportunities, including but not limited to preparing and translating marketing materials, attending client meetings, and working with **’s internal teams to provide due diligence support.
  • Special projects as required.
  • Working with other parts of the** organization as necessary.


Qualifications/Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in Principal Investing, Investment Banking, Restructuring, Reinsurance/Insurance or other relevant areas
  • Tertiary Finance qualification.
  • Experience conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing “client ready” investment materials
  • Exceptional financial modelling skills with demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and model management; understanding and is able to model investor waterfall fee structures.
  • Strong understanding of detailed financial statement reporting and analysis, financial structures and instruments.
  • Especially, experience of life insurance M&A or reinsurance, or Japanese actuary certificate is preferred
  • Ability to speak, read and write in fluent Japanese.
  • Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Argus.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively research investment and funding opportunities and understand the Japanese markets.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Team-oriented; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization.
  • A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture.
  • Experience covering financial services is an asset but not required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and oral)
