TEAM OVERVIEW
As part of ** Insurance, the Institutional Markets team focuses on origination, structuring and management of transaction opportunities across the global life and annuity insurance market. For 20+ years, this group has executed multiple strategic acquisitions and reinsurance transactions, including block, flow and PRT reinsurance, representing a total of $190B+ of assets to date. The Institutional Markets team is seeking an experienced individual responsible for managing the deal execution of potential reinsurance or M&A transactions.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As an integral member of the Deal Team, you will engage in origination, investment analysis, diligence and execution of reinsurance transactions as well as design, analysis and implementation of **’s wider insurance strategy across Asia (i.e. development of strategic partnerships, M&A, product development). • Originate and evaluate funded reinsurance opportunities across block and flow reinsurance as well as wider strategic opportunities
• Materially contributes to the full transaction lifecycle including origination, deal analysis and execution of potential reinsurance or other strategic transactions involving life and annuity companies / blocks of business.
• Ability to review and analysing overall market / product / industry trends across Asia as well as competitive dynamics
• Ability to independently draft presentations regarding various opportunities for senior management (across reinsurance and more strategic initiatives)
• Possess or able to develop and good understanding of different insurance capital regimes: Bermuda, US, local Asian regimes
• Collaborating with the Actuarial and Pricing team to review transaction pricing, underwriting / setting of assumptions, due diligence and make recommendations
• Ability to independently draft offer letters / term-sheets
• Think creatively about alternative ways to structure transactions in order to achieve desired client outcomes within the firm’s risk framework.
• Participating in negotiating discussions with counterparties
• Work with the legal team in reviewing and producing transaction agreements
• Prepare presentations, communications, and reports on deal progress for wider organizational consumption.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience, including insurance M&A/strategy at an investment bank or consulting firm, or strategy or business/corporate development department of an insurance company
• Knowledge of main solutions available for Life and non-Life including sidecar, funded reinsurance, VIF monetization and risk transfers.
• Strong quantitative and technical abilities
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to own and see projects to completion.
• Strong ability to manage and develop junior team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills and is a team player.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities.
