Position Overview

The position covers/supports wide range of financial reporting activity. The ideal candidate should have good understanding of financial industry’s financial reporting requirements and regulatory requirements. Job would include maintaining local GL (books and records), financial reporting, regulatory reporting, tax filing, USGAAP financial analysis and assisting other functions where finance is close to.

The candidate should have good hands-on capability and good interpersonal skills in multitasking and multi-cultural environment. Ideal candidate should have good technical understanding of life insurance business, regulatory reporting, and USGAAP. The candidate works closely with administration team and valuation team.

Responsibilities

The role will have the following responsibilities either in direct execution or a supporting role:

• JGAAP / JSTAT regulatory reporting / analysis
• USGAAP financial reporting / analysis
• Budgeting and business planning
• Treasury activity
• Support management information. E.g., profitability analysis, revenue by product line, and plan vs actual analysis
• Cost analysis / expense control
• Support tax filing in Japan
• Handle internal audit

Requirements

Required

• BA degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related field
• Nissho bookkeeping Level 2 or equivalent
• Over 10 years’ experience in financial accounting, reporting and operations. Relevant experience with lesser duration will be considered
• Proven time management skills and ability to multitask effectively
• Proficiency in both English and Japanese (TOEIC score is required)
• Good interpersonal skill in multi-cultural environment
• Excel (Advanced level)

Preferred

• CPA or CMA
• Life insurance knowledge is a plus
• Understanding actuarial background is a plus
• Investment knowledge is a plus
