Position: Director, Product Strategy & Management


Department: Regional Product and Value Management


Job Location: Hong Kong (Regional Role), Hybrid


The Role:


The Director of Product Strategy and Management will play an instrumental role in strengthening *** Asia’s product competitiveness and value creation to meet its financial and growth goals, as well as evolving customer needs. The role will lead strategic initiatives across the region while working collaboratively with local markets. The role will also act as a key liaison between corporate and local teams to drive product development efficiency and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:


Product Strategy


  • Ideate and drive strategic initiatives to enrich *** Asia’s product lines, differentiate product offerings and enhance product competitiveness.
  • Champion innovation in product ideation and design, customer orientation, and product development process. Scale and lead innovation best practices.
  • Build use cases for digital, technology and artificial intelligence enablement, working closely with country product teams and external vendors to drive innovation, agility and excellence in product development.
  • Collaborate with Solutions team to strengthen ***’s customer proposition through integrating product and services and leveraging customer data, particularly in the A&H and protection space.
  • Drive the development of digital insurance products with select markets to address differentiated customer needs and generate quality leads for cross/up-sell.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis on regulatory change, market dynamics and evolving customer needs and translate them into sound product strategies to capture growth.



Management & Governance


  • Govern the regional product development process to ensure adherence to *** internal policies and guidelines, while promoting development agility.
  • Review and approve business cases of new product ideas from markets, ensuring alignment with business and enterprise strategies while sufficiently addressing customer needs.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to simplify product development processes and enable solutions to increase speed and relevancy.
  • Implement active portfolio review to effectively manage the product shelf to maximize value.
  • Support emerging markets in product ideation and development when necessary.
  • Scale existing best practices in product & management routines (i.e. product forum, planning, etc).



Candidate Qualifications:


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 10+ years of insurance product-related or strategy experience.
  • Knowledge of various types of insurance products and understanding of product economics.
  • Experience in product development, health, underwriting, or strategy preferred.
  • Strong analytical background, comfortable working with data and emerging technology
  • Proven track record of executing strategic, cross-functional projects to deliver concrete results.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to communicate and build relationship with key stakeholders across functions and regions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Adaptable and fast learner.
  • Actuarial knowledge/background will be a positive
