About the Role
Our client is seeking a Vice President of Operations to join its executive leadership team and lead all aspects of operational performance, financial execution, and program delivery. This leader will own end-to-end operations across production, logistics, and program execution—driving efficiency, compliance, and profitability as the company transitions from startup to scale-up. This is a pivotal executive role with a defined succession path to Chief Operating Officer as the organization expands. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in government contracting and operational excellence within fast-moving, mission-driven environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations across manufacturing, logistics, and program delivery to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans and measurable results.
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive process improvement, scalability, and financial performance.
- Oversee budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators to ensure cost control and margin optimization.
- Build scalable systems, documentation, and workflows to support contract growth and renewals.
- Collaborate with product, finance, and HR teams to maintain operational integrity across programs.
- Support capture and proposal efforts through operational insights, cost modeling, and performance data.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership, including 5+ years in a senior operations or general management role.
- Proven experience in defense technology or government contracting with strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and DCAA requirements.
- Financial acumen and hands-on experience managing P&L, budgets, and forecasts.
- Strong record of scaling systems, processes, and teams in high-growth environments.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Active or eligible security clearance preferred.
Compensation
Low to Mid $200ks + equity
