Reports To

Regional Leadership

Company Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing, privately held organization operating a portfolio of service-oriented businesses across the United States. The company partners with established local businesses and provides the capital, technology, expertise, and shared resources required to accelerate their growth. The organization combines local decision-making with the capabilities of a larger platform. Business leaders retain meaningful autonomy while gaining access to centralized support across finance, technology, talent, marketing, business development, operational excellence, and strategic growth. The company is expanding rapidly and investing in accomplished operators who can lead individual businesses, strengthen performance, and potentially grow into broader regional leadership positions over time.

Position Overview

The President will serve as the senior operating leader of an established, high-performing business in Northwest Montana. Functioning as the local CEO, this individual will assume responsibility for the organization’s people, financial performance, customer experience, daily operations, and continued growth. The incoming leader will inherit a healthy business with an experienced team, strong financial performance, and positive growth momentum. The current leader is transitioning into a larger role within the broader organization, providing the opportunity for a thoughtful and well-supported leadership transition. This is not a turnaround assignment. The mandate is to build upon an already successful foundation while identifying opportunities to improve customer retention, strengthen the team, expand the business, and increase profitability. The President will have meaningful operating autonomy and direct P&L responsibility while benefiting from the resources and support of a sophisticated national organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the local CEO and senior operating leader of the business.
  • Own the P&L, including revenue growth, profitability, forecasting, expense management, and operating performance.
  • Lead and develop a team spanning operations, customer service, business development, and other frontline functions.
  • Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across the organization.
  • Build upon the company’s existing growth trajectory while identifying new opportunities within the local market.
  • Strengthen customer relationships, service quality, retention, and overall satisfaction.
  • Partner with business development resources to generate sustainable organic growth.
  • Support the integration of additional customers, assets, or complementary local operations.
  • Maintain high standards for service delivery, responsiveness, quality, and execution.
  • Use financial and operational data to identify trends, diagnose problems, and make informed decisions.
  • Build credibility quickly and ensure continuity through an important leadership transition.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop leaders capable of supporting continued growth.
  • Leverage centralized resources across finance, technology, talent, marketing, and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent the organization within the community and build productive relationships with customers and local partners.
  • Create a culture defined by ownership, humility, accountability, curiosity, and high performance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a proven operational leader ready to assume complete ownership of a growing business. They will combine strong people leadership with financial fluency, commercial judgment, and the ability to operate across multiple functions. Direct industry experience is not required. The company places greater emphasis on leadership ability, operating discipline, learning agility, and demonstrated business ownership. The strongest candidates will have previously owned a P&L or served as a highly accountable second-in-command responsible for the operating metrics that directly influence financial performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in a demanding, high-accountability operating environment.
  • Direct P&L ownership or substantial responsibility for the operational and financial drivers of a business.
  • Experience leading a customer-facing or service-oriented operation.
  • Strong understanding of revenue, expenses, margins, forecasting, labor, productivity, and operating performance.
  • Demonstrated success developing teams, creating accountability, and delivering measurable results.
  • Experience leading multi-functional, field-based, distributed, or multi-site operations is attractive.
  • Ability to drive growth while maintaining a high standard of operational quality.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, new-location openings, or other growth initiatives is preferred.
  • Comfort operating with autonomy while effectively leveraging shared organizational resources.
  • Ability to build credibility quickly and lead an established team through a leadership transition.
  • Military leadership experience is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to relocate to Northwest Montana and lead the business on-site.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate three defining qualities: humility, curiosity, and a strong will to win.

They will have the confidence to make decisions and hold others accountable, paired with the humility to recognize that they are joining a successful business with an experienced team and valuable institutional knowledge. They will be intellectually curious, willing to learn a new market, understand how the business creates value, and challenge existing assumptions thoughtfully. Most importantly, they will take ownership of outcomes. When circumstances are ambiguous or difficult, they will step forward, solve problems, and remain accountable for the performance of the entire business. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance or operate within a narrow functional specialty. The company is looking for an entrepreneurial general manager who can lead people, understand the numbers, strengthen customer relationships, and operate as the CEO of a local business.

Compensation & Opportunity

The role offers a competitive executive compensation package consisting of:

  • Executive level base compensation
  • Performance-based annual bonus with meaningful upside.
  • Participation in a long-term value-creation incentive program.
  • Relocation assistance.

The organization is experiencing substantial growth, which is expected to create future opportunities for successful leaders to assume responsibility for larger businesses or advance into regional leadership positions.

Work Environment

This is an on-site leadership position located in Northwest Montana. The President must be visible, engaged, and closely connected to employees, customers, and the surrounding community. The position offers considerable operating autonomy, supported by regular collaboration with regional leadership and centralized resources across the broader organization. The location provides a distinctive lifestyle for someone drawn to mountains, outdoor recreation, and close-knit communities. The strongest candidate will see the opportunity to build both a meaningful career and a long-term life in the region.
