The Opportunity: Director of Maintenance

Position Overview

The Director of Maintenance will lead a broad maintenance and reliability function, strengthening the people, systems, and practices that support daily operations.

This leader will develop teams, improve execution consistency, and guide the organization toward a more proactive, structured maintenance approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop maintenance personnel across multiple operating sites
  • Build leadership capability, accountability, and team effectiveness
  • Improve planning, scheduling, prioritization, and maintenance execution
  • Establish scalable operating processes, standards, and routines
  • Advance preventive, predictive, and reliability-focused maintenance practices
  • Improve use of maintenance technology, systems, reporting, and operational data
  • Partner with operations and other functional leaders to improve performance
  • Identify recurring equipment or process issues and implement sustainable solutions
  • Strengthen communication and coordination across departments
  • Support broader continuous-improvement and operational-excellence initiatives
  • Help define the future structure, capabilities, and talent needs of the maintenance organization


Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced maintenance, reliability, engineering, or operations leader with a record of leading teams in complex industrial environments.


Strong candidates will bring experience developing leaders, improving systems and processes, managing change, and building productive relationships across operational and corporate teams. The role requires sound judgment, technical credibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels.


Work Environment & Travel

This is an on-site leadership position in California with periodic travel between operating locations.


Compensation

Base salary in the low $200Ks, plus bonus.
