Position Overview
The General Manager will serve as the senior operational leader responsible for the overall performance of the business, overseeing operations, sales, customer service, financial performance, employee development, and strategic execution. This individual will work closely with executive leadership during a planned leadership transition before assuming responsibility for the day-to-day management of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall operations and strategic direction of the business while ensuring operational excellence across all departments.
- Own full P&L responsibility, driving revenue growth, profitability, and financial performance.
- Develop and execute operating plans that improve efficiency, accountability, and scalability.
- Monitor key business metrics including revenue, gross margin, productivity, customer retention, accounts receivable, and operational performance.
- Oversee service operations, scheduling, dispatch, warehouse, fleet, customer service, and field execution.
- Improve systems, workflows, and standard operating procedures that support sustainable growth.
- Lead, coach, and develop managers and employees while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing talent while supporting succession planning and leadership development.
- Strengthen relationships with key customers and strategic partners while supporting business development initiatives.
- Champion an exceptional customer experience across all areas of the business.
- Identify operational improvements and growth opportunities while leading strategic initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Utilize financial and operational data to establish priorities, solve problems proactively, and drive organizational performance.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within commercial services, industrial services, construction, manufacturing, or facility services.
- Demonstrated success leading multiple functional areas including operations, sales, customer service, and field personnel.
- Prior P&L ownership with accountability for revenue growth and profitability.
- Experience leading managers and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong operational leadership with experience improving systems, processes, and organizational execution.
- Excellent business and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.
- Proven ability to analyze business performance using financial and operational metrics.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build trust, develop people, and hold teams accountable.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on leadership role within a growing entrepreneurial organization.
- High integrity, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative leadership style.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within commercial services, facility services, commercial construction, mechanical services, industrial services, HVAC, fire & life safety, security & access control, elevator services, or similar field service organizations.
- Experience leading small-to-mid-sized service businesses through periods of growth and operational transformation.
- Military leadership experience is valued.
- Experience working within founder-led or entrepreneurial organizations is a plus.
- Private equity-backed business experience is beneficial but not required.
Work Environment & Travel
This position is based onsite in Maine and requires a highly visible leadership presence within the business. The General Manager will work closely with employees, customers, and executive leadership while occasionally traveling to customer locations, industry events, and leadership meetings as needed.
