THE JOB
The Field Service Engineer will support off-highway tire performance in real-world applications through field evaluations, technical troubleshooting, product inspections, warranty support, reporting, and customer training.
This is a hands-on technical role that blends field work, application engineering, customer support, and cross-functional collaboration with product management, design, quality, manufacturing, sales, distributors, and end customers. The role is based in Charlotte, NC and requires at least 50% travel across North America.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct field investigations of off-highway tire products at customer, dealer, and distributor locations.
- Provide technical support to sales teams, OE partners, aftermarket distributors, and end customers.
- Evaluate tire use, maintenance conditions, product performance, and application fit.
- Troubleshoot customer concerns and help resolve technical product issues.
- Analyze field claims, test data, warranty findings, and product performance trends.
- Prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify product improvement opportunities and share feedback with product, design, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Support competitive benchmark testing.
- Provide technical training for sales teams, customers, and distributors.
- Assist with customer satisfaction feedback and translate field insights into actionable recommendations.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of relevant engineering, technical service, field service, or application support experience.
- Experience in off-highway tires, commercial vehicle tires, tire manufacturing, agriculture equipment, construction equipment, forestry equipment, mining, industrial equipment, or related heavy equipment applications.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, agriculture, science, or a related technical field preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on comfort with tires, wheels, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to inspect, evaluate, handle, and analyze tire and wheel assemblies in field environments.
- Strong data analysis and technical report writing skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and commercial audiences.
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; data analysis tools are a plus.
- Ability to travel at least 50% across North America.
- Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments, including construction sites, mining operations, agricultural fields, and dealer workshops.
- Physical ability to handle heavy tires and wheel assemblies and use relevant field tools, including cutting and analysis tools when needed.
