THE COMPANY

Our client is one of the nation’s leading mechanical contractors, recognized for delivering complex projects across healthcare, education, manufacturing, and commercial sectors. With decades of experience and a strong national presence, they specialize in HVAC, mechanical, and building automation solutions. Their reputation is built on technical excellence, a collaborative culture, and a commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.

THE JOB

As a Building Automation Project Sales Representative, you will be responsible for driving new business development in Southeastern Minnesota and surrounding areas. This is a true hunter role—you’ll prospect, qualify, and win new customers while also building long-term relationships. You’ll sell tailored building automation solutions that integrate seamlessly with HVAC and energy systems, delivering measurable value to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate new business opportunities across manufacturing, healthcare, and education markets.
  • Develop proposals that clearly communicate technical and financial value, differentiating solutions from competitor offerings.
  • Prospect, track, and manage sales activity using CRM (Salesforce).
  • Estimate project costs, materials, and timelines with accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to cross-sell service, controls, and mechanical work.
  • Represent the company in a professional and customer-focused manner in the field and office.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or building automation systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC/controls systems, ability to read drawings, and translate technical needs into clear customer solutions.
  • Proven ability to prospect and close new business.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Prior sales experience required; competitor background (e.g., proprietary systems providers) highly valued.
  • Hunter mindset — proactive, persistent, and driven to exceed goals.

THE BENEFITS

  • Base salary: $65,000– $95,000 (depending on skills and experience).
  • Uncapped monthly commission — most reps double their base salary; high performers triple or quadruple.
  • Car allowance.
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401K with company match.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and parental leave.
  • Career advancement opportunities in a growing Building Automation division.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven hunter who wants to sell high-value building automation solutions backed by a national leader with the resources of a large organization and the culture of a local team.
