We are looking for a skilled Project Cost Analyst with a background in welding and fabrication to join our team. The Project Cost Analyst will be essential in evaluating project expenses, preparing detailed quotations, and collaborating with various teams to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in welding and fabrication techniques, coupled with strong analytical abilities and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis: Perform in-depth evaluations of costs for fabrication and machining projects, focusing on manufacturing-related processes, including material costs, labour, consumables, equipment, and overheads.

Quotation Preparation: Develop comprehensive and competitive quotations and proposals based on accurate cost assessments, project requirements, and manufacturing needs.

Material and Resource Management: Work with procurement and supply chain teams to secure competitive pricing for materials, welding consumables, equipment, and subcontracted services, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project budgets.

Production Coordination: Collaborate closely with production managers and engineers to create efficient welding and fabrication schedules, optimise resource allocation, and ensure project timelines are met.

Process Optimisation: Work with design and engineering teams to identify cost-saving measures, streamline welding and fabrication processes, and enhance project profitability without compromising quality or safety.

Risk Assessment: Recognise potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates, especially concerning welding and fabrication, and develop strategies to minimise cost overruns and project delays.

Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of cost analyses, quotation documents, purchase orders, welding procedures, and quality control documentation in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Client Engagement: Interact with clients during project discussions, offering expert advice on welding and fabrication-related issues, addressing technical questions, and providing value-added solutions to meet project goals.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry developments, new technologies, and best practices in welding and fabrication to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness of estimating processes.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all estimating and fabrication activities comply with company policies, quality standards, welding codes, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a project cost analyst or similar role in a fabrication and machining environment, with a strong foundation in welding and fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in welding processes and a thorough understanding of AS 1553 Part 1 - 6.
- Strong skills in reading technical drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, capable of conducting complex cost calculations and analyses.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- A meticulous approach to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in estimating and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant welding codes, standards, and regulations.
