Our client is an established and growing company in the HVAC products, equipment, and distribution industry. They support contractors, dealers, and trade customers with a broad range of HVAC products, parts, supplies, and related solutions used across residential, light commercial, and replacement markets.
This Account Executive role is focused on growing sales and market share for the company’s established legacy HVAC product lines. The role is well suited to a proactive, field-based sales professional who enjoys prospecting, opening new accounts, reactivating underdeveloped customers, and converting competitor business.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in HVAC sales, contractor sales, distribution sales, technical product sales, building products, or related B2B sales. This is a true hunter role and requires someone who is comfortable building a territory through outbound activity, customer visits, referrals, follow-up, and consistent pipeline development.
Compensation: Total compensation will vary based on experience, territory, customer base, and sales performance.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Grow sales and market share for the company’s legacy HVAC product lines.
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan focused on new account acquisition, account reactivation, revenue growth, and margin improvement.
- Build relationships with HVAC contractors, dealers, mechanical contractors, builders, renovators, and other trade customers.
- Convert competitor accounts by demonstrating product value, availability, service capability, technical support, and long-term partnership benefits.
- Conduct regular field visits, customer meetings, branch visits, product discussions, and follow-up activity.
- Promote a portfolio of established HVAC products, parts, equipment, supplies, and related solutions.
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products based on application, performance, availability, price point, and value.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and active sales opportunities.
- Work closely with internal teams including branch operations, inside sales, customer service, technical support, product leadership, and management.
- Monitor market activity, competitor positioning, customer buying patterns, pricing trends, and product demand.
- Support onboarding of new accounts and ensure a smooth transition into ongoing customer relationships.
- Track activity, opportunities, customer information, and sales progress through CRM and internal reporting tools.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, gross margin objectives, and business development metrics.
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, trade events, supplier events, and industry functions.
Requirements:
- Experience in outside sales, territory sales, account executive, business development, contractor sales, or distribution sales.
- Experience selling HVAC products, equipment, parts, supplies, building products, mechanical products, or technical B2B solutions is strongly preferred.
- Strong prospecting skills with a demonstrated ability to open doors, create opportunities, and win new business.
- Experience selling to HVAC contractors, dealers, mechanical contractors, trades, builders, renovators, or related customer groups would be considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of relationship-based sales within a competitive market.
- Ability to learn and communicate product value, technical features, availability, and customer benefits.
- Comfortable calling on new accounts, visiting customers in the field, and managing a territory independently.
- Strong communication, follow-up, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, competitive, and results-oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, prospects, opportunities, and priorities at the same time.
- Comfortable with regular travel throughout the assigned territory.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Experience using CRM systems, sales reporting tools, Microsoft Office, or related business technology would be considered an asset.
