The Field Project Manager leads installation jobs from start to finish and also works on those jobs in
the field. The role plans, supplies, staffs, and closes out each job, and is accountable for its safety,
quality, schedule, and profit. Because Maui has fewer jobs than Oahu, this role also supports
Sales, manages materials, and supervises the technicians on the island.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, program, test, and start up systems alongside technicians.
• Lead job kickoffs, site walkthroughs, and final inspections to confirm the work matches
the scope, drawings, and work order.
• Complete final start-up and customer training.
• Set job timelines and completion dates with customers, Operations Coordinators,
Sales, and the District Manager.
• Schedule jobs to make the best use of labor and plan ahead for changes and
emergencies.
• Assign technicians and set the order of work based on priority, equipment, and skill
level.
• Review the proposed scope with Sales and the customer, and help write the scope of
work.
• Estimate project management and labor hours, and provide part numbers and costs for
proposals.
• Perform site surveys and pre-engineering as assigned by the District Manager.
• Serve as the customer’s main point of contact from job setup to completion: confirm
scope, gather programming information, and verify satisfaction at close-out.
• Keep Sales, Project Coordinators, and management updated on progress, changes,
and problems; lead or attend project meetings.
• Keep accurate job notes and account records in Sedona so the account can be serviced
after the job is complete.
• Manage change orders, adds, and RFIs with customers, contractors, and
subcontractors; recommend chargeable changes while protecting the sales
relationship.
• Report job errors to all stakeholders as lessons learned, and review installation reports
to improve the process.
• Confirm parts are compatible and that the correct parts are ordered, received, and
staged per the scope or work order.
• Track shipping dates, expedite when needed, and reconcile parts before installation
starts.
• Limit returns and waste, and make sure technicians have the parts, truck stock, and
tools to finish each job.
• Manage each job for profit, not just completion; review job costs regularly and flag
budget variances early.
• Direct daily technician work, enforce safety rules, and push jobs to finish on time and
within scope.
• Explain specifications, blueprints, work orders, and company policies to technicians.
• Monitor performance, coach, and address performance issues; work with management
to resolve employee concerns.
• Recommend hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline, or termination, and suggest ways to
improve morale and productivity.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience as an electronic security or fire systems installation technician.
• Supervisory experience; leads by example and promotes a safe, positive, productive
workplace.
• Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and sales documents.
• Strong scheduling, organization, and time management skills; able to manage multiple
jobs and priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Stays calm and professional under stress and change.
• Acceptable driving record.
Work Requirements:
• Driving for extended periods of time.
• May require night and weekend work hours.
