The Accountant Position

The Accountant services multiple clients preparing and processing payroll, managing quarterly and year-end payroll tax filings (941, 940, W2s, 1099s, etc.), and general bookkeeping functions in QuickBooks. The position allows for growth and in the future, the Accountant may be tasked in preparing individual and business tax returns, depreciation schedules, and preparing work papers.

 

The Accountant position is ideal for someone looking for a professional work environment with the flexibility to enjoy life outside of the office. This position requires a full work week (40-50 hours) during tax season; however, a great perk of the Accountant position is the flexibility to work a reduced schedule outside of the busy tax season.

 

 Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required of the Accountant Position

  • Bookkeeping/accounting experience in public accounting, corporate or private business is required
  • Prior experience working in a CPA firm is preferred
  • Payroll preparation experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant work experience is preferred
  • Excellent bookkeeping skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, computer systems, and math skills
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks desktop and online is preferred
  • Proficiency MS Office
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have ability to be proactive with good follow through
  • Must be self-directed, detail oriented, and organized


Compensation, Benefits, and Structure for the Accountant Position

Work hours align with regular business hours and typically range from 30-40 hours per week during the non-tax season, increasing to 40-50+ hours per week during tax season. The starting pay rate is dependent on skills and experience. Benefits include vacation, holiday, and personal leave time along with a matching retirement plan (Simple IRA).
