A well established privately-owned construction company in Livingston County, is looking for a Controller to join their team!

 

The Controller Position

The Controller position is responsible for managing all aspects of the accounting department, including monthly internal and external financial reporting, accounting file maintenance, monthly financial statement preparation, and general financial analysis. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, finance functions, and project job cost activities. This position will also be expected to provide and accept feedback, welcome and adapt to change, challenge the status quo and be committed to the success of others.


Additional responsibilities include project-based financial reporting and analysis (WIP schedules, job costing, forecasting), processing pay estimates and subcontractor payables, working closely with CPA , oversight of annual financial audits, and consistent monitoring of daily cash flow and compliance-related reporting requirements.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities of the Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting 
  • Proven high level analytical ability with significant skills in financial modeling
  • Possess Supervisory or Management Experience
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP
  • Possess exemplary confidentiality standards
  • Advanced experience with Excel
  • Advanced experience with Full Service Financial Accounting Software
  • Exceptional Communication Skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to meet strict timeline requirements
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-directed and project/task follow-up
  • Able to work in a very fast-paced, deadline-driven, and constantly changing business environment
  • Experience dealing with banks and financial institutions


Compensation, Benefits, and Structure for the Controller Position

The position is full-time and provides a competitive salary, medical benefits, paid time off, and a stable Company environment. This position reports directly to the President, and requires an in-office presence at the Company’s office.
