Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a community health center umbrella made up of 30+ locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay region and beyond. Most locations are set up to serve medically underserved populations, but our doors are open to anyone regardless of insurance or lack of insurance. Chief Dental Officer Position

The Chief Dental Officer serves as a trusted clinical and administrative leader for Great Lakes Bay Health Centers, driving the quality and efficiency of dental services across every site. A typical day may include performing clinical services as a staff dentist, maintaining standards of dental care delivery and monitoring patient access and utilization, staffing and scheduling providers across all dental sites, leading chart audits for quality assurance and peer review, chairing dental provider and administrative meetings, representing dental services on the Quality Improvement and Safety Committee, and building alliances with community educational partners such as the University of Michigan Dental School.

 

This role requires a proven clinical leader who is equally comfortable providing hands-on patient care and managing the operational and strategic demands of a multi-site dental program. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, is skilled at interpreting financial reports and navigating governmental legislation and grant requirements, and is confident recruiting, supervising, and developing a team of dental directors, staff dentists, and hygienists.

 

Reporting to the Chief Health Officer, the Chief Dental Officer has the opportunity to shape the quality and reach of dental care delivered across Great Lakes Bay Health Centers' community, including its mobile dental program and its collaboration with the University of Michigan Dental School.

 

Experience, Skills and Abilities for the Chief Dental Officer Position

  • Graduate of a U.S. accredited dental school
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as a dentist in a group setting; supervisory experience preferred
  • Current, appropriate licensure through the State of Michigan Board of Dentistry, DEA registration, and BLS certification
  • Strong business acumen, including the ability to interpret financial reports and navigate governmental legislation and grant requirements
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
  • Demonstrated skill in managing dental staff for day-to-day operations, including recruiting, scheduling, and supervising staff dentists, dental hygienists, and dental directors
  • A bias toward action, with the ability to attend to administrative assignments on a timely basis while performing clinical duties
