The Senior Accountant Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations while ensuring the administrative functions of the business run efficiently. This role leads project billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, payroll oversight, HR administration, and office management functions.

This individual serves as a key operational partner to leadership by maintaining strong financial controls, timely billing and collections, accurate reporting, and efficient internal administrative processes. As a hands-on role in a growing construction environment, it requires someone who can operate both strategically and tactically and who thrives within Heritage’s EOS® (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework; a structured, accountability-driven environment.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the Senior Accountant Position

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experience
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of AR, AP, payroll oversight, and financial reporting
• Experience with AIA/project billing preferred
• Understanding of the lien and bond process as it relates to AIA billing, including notice of commencement, notice of furnishing, payment waivers, sworn statements, and related documentation.
• Experience with payroll reporting, including 13- and 26-week rolling cash flow forecasting completed weekly, as well as monthly WIP reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Quickbooks and ERP systems
• Experience supporting HR and administrative functions preferred
• Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential financial and personnel information.
