Vice President of Operations
The Vice President of Operations (VP of Ops) leads construction operations for the company’s Build-to-rent (BTR) and senior living portfolio. This executive role oversees planning, execution, and delivery of ground‑up and renovation projects across multiple regions, with frequent travel to remote and active job sites. The VP of Ops ensures that every community (whether affordable, market rate, BTR or senior living), is built on-time, on budget and with highest standards of safety, quality, and resident experience.
The VP of Ops provides strategic and operational leadership for the company’s multifamily, Build-to-Rent, and senior living portfolio, overseeing preconstruction planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation across all projects. This role establishes and enforces construction standards tailored to residential and senior living environments, including accessibility, life safety, and resident care considerations, while leading the successful delivery of multiple concurrent projects such as new developments and expansions of existing communities.
The VP of Ops maintains a strong field presence through regular site visits, proactively resolving challenges by partnering with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, and trade partners, and ensuring senior living projects meet specialized requirements such as state-specific licensure, nurse call systems, infection control standards, ADA/UFAS accessibility, and emergency power systems.
In addition, the VP of Ops builds and develops high-performing project teams, leading hiring efforts and mentoring construction leaders while serving as a key liaison between construction, development, and operations. This role champions a culture of safety and quality, ensuring compliance with OSHA, building codes, fair housing requirements, environmental regulations, and senior living standards. Financially, the VP is accountable for approving budgets, schedules, and major change orders, monitoring portfolio-level financial performance and risk, and negotiating key contracts and vendor agreements to ensure predictable project outcomes and long-term profitability.
