The Controller Position

The Controller position is responsible for managing all aspects of the accounting department, including monthly reporting, accounting file maintenance, monthly financial statement preparation, and general financial analysis. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, finance functions, and project job cost activities. This position will also be expected to provide and accept feedback, welcome and adapt to change, challenge the status quo and be committed to the success of others.

Additional responsibilities include project-based financial reporting and analysis (WIP schedules, job costing, forecasting), processing pay estimates and subcontractor payables, working closely with CPA , oversight of annual financial audits, and consistent monitoring of daily cash flow and compliance-related reporting requirements.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities of the Controller

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred

·       5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction industry

·       Proven high level of analytical ability with significant skills in financial modeling

·       Advanced experience with Excel, PosPay and Foundation Software is preferred

·       Previous payroll department oversight preferred

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation, Benefits, and Structure for the Controller Position

The position is full-time and provides a competitive salary, medical benefits, paid time off, and a stable Company environment. This position reports directly to the President, and requires an in-office presence at Fonson Company’s Brighton office.
