GENERAL MANAGER
Confidential | Capital Region, NY
About Us
We are a well-loved, community-rooted casual American restaurant in the Capital Region of New York, known for hearty comfort food, pub-style fare, cold drinks, and the kind of warm, laid-back atmosphere that keeps guests coming back. Whether it's a weeknight family dinner, a game-day crowd, or a private catering event, this is where the community gathers — and we're looking for a General Manager who takes that responsibility seriously.
The Role
We're looking for a seasoned, hands-on General Manager (or upper level AGM) to lead both our front and back of house operations. This is a working manager position — you'll be on the floor, in the kitchen, and in the weeds right alongside your team. If you're the kind of leader who earns respect by showing up, rolling up your sleeves, and genuinely caring about your people and your guests, this role was built for you.
What You'll Do
• Own the full operation — FOH and BOH — ensuring smooth, consistent daily execution across both
• Be a true presence in the kitchen; this role has historically required strong BOH oversight and the ability to step in and run the line when needed
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team that feels supported, motivated, and proud of where they work
• Build genuine relationships with guests, creating a dining experience that turns first-timers into regulars
• Manage scheduling for all staff with efficiency and fairness
• Handle food and beverage ordering, including meat and produce, with an eye on quality and cost
• Drive P&L performance — labor, food cost, and overall profitability
• Grow the catering business by cultivating relationships with local offices and corporate clients in the area
• Help develop and execute outdoor special events that expand revenue and community presence
• Work approximately 45–50 hours per week as a fully engaged, active leader
What We're Looking For
• 3–5+ years of full-service casual restaurant management experience (independent, corporate, or a combination)
• Proven ability to manage both FOH and BOH operations with confidence
• Comfortable and capable in a kitchen environment — this is a must
• Strong financial acumen: scheduling, food ordering, and P&L ownership
• A natural people leader — someone who mentors staff and builds a culture of warmth and accountability
• A guest-first mindset with exceptional relationship-building skills
• Experience in or appetite for growing catering and event business
• Local to the Capital Region of New York or willing to commute
Compensation & Perks
• $65,000–$85,000 base salary (commensurate with experience; exceptional candidates may be considered above range)
• Bonus plan available — details to be discussed with the right candidate
• Salary structured to reflect benefits (no traditional benefits package offered at this time)
• A chance to be the face of a well-loved, community-rooted restaurant with real growth opportunity
If you're a hospitality professional who leads from the front, knows your way around a kitchen and a dining room, and wants to build something great with a team that feels like family — we'd love to hear from you.
