Production Planner

Location: Walkden

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)


About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our fast-growing manufacturing team in Walkden. This pivotal role serves as the vital link between the warehouse, shop floor, and wider business functions—ensuring that production schedules run smoothly, materials are managed efficiently, and customer commitments are met.


You'll work closely with internal teams and suppliers, utilising live data to manage stock levels, track progress of ongoing jobs, and maintain a clear picture of production performance. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Plan, schedule, and manage production workloads to ensure timely delivery of customer orders and contracts.
  • Track work-in-progress (WIP) and monitor material usage throughout the production cycle.
  • Maintain and update live spreadsheets or ERP systems to monitor material requirements, stock levels, and delivery dates.
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, fostering strong working relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with the Warehouse Supervisor and Quality Manager to address inventory concerns, quality issues, and production challenges.
  • Coordinate customer orders across departments to ensure accurate workflow and timely completion.
  • Maintain real-time visibility over inventory, including stock levels, shortages, and usage trends.
  • Provide regular and accurate updates to customers regarding order status, material availability, and lead times.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across planning, scheduling, and inventory management.


Skills & Experience Required


  • Proven experience in a Production Planner role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, materials planning, and scheduling principles.
  • Comfortable working with live data, spreadsheets, and/or ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and build supplier relationships.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Advanced Excel skills or prior experience with planning tools/ERP systems highly desirable.


What We Offer


  • Competitive salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • 39.5-hour working week:
  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm or 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Friday: Early finish at 12:30pm or 1:30pm
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
