A well-established construction business operating across the North West is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join its commercial team.
The organisation delivers a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, education, healthcare, specialist residential, sports and leisure sectors, with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, social value and delivering projects that benefit local communities.
As Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive and commercially robust tenders, helping the business secure profitable work while ensuring projects are deliverable from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and competitive tenders for construction projects up to £5m, working to agreed deadlines and target margins.
- Maintain reliable cost data and supply-chain pricing to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.
- Identify and quantify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering options, providing clear recommendations to support bid/no-bid decisions.
- Work closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to ensure tenders are practical, compliant and fully buildable.
- Consider programme, construction methodology, SHE requirements, quality and social value throughout the estimating process.
- Monitor bid performance, capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvements in estimating processes.
- Support the commercial handover to delivery teams by providing clear cost plans, assumptions, clarifications and tender information.
About You:
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience producing accurate and competitive estimates for construction projects of a similar scale.
- Experience across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, residential, leisure or related construction environments.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and bills of quantities and develop robust cost plans.
- Good knowledge of construction methods, programming, risk and health & safety requirements.
- Experience developing and managing effective supply-chain relationships and obtaining competitive quotations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present estimates, assumptions and commercial recommendations clearly to stakeholders and clients when required.
- A commercially minded approach combined with a strong understanding of buildability and project delivery.
