An established and highly regarded construction business is looking to appoint an experienced Construction Health & Safety Manager to support the delivery of major construction projects across Greater Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive health and safety professional who enjoys working closely with project and site teams and is passionate about creating a strong, positive safety culture.
The Role
As Construction Health & Safety Manager, you will provide expert health and safety advice and leadership across live construction projects, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, risk management and site safety are maintained.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and promoting a positive health and safety culture across construction sites.
- Providing professional H&S advice and guidance to project managers, site teams and subcontractors.
- Supporting the development and implementation of project-specific Health & Safety Plans.
- Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Identifying hazards, assessing risks and ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Monitoring the health and safety performance of contractors and subcontractors.
- Investigating incidents, near misses and unsafe practices and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Delivering toolbox talks, briefings and safety training where required.
- Maintaining accurate H&S records, reports and statutory documentation.
- Advising project teams on relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across projects.
- Working collaboratively with operational teams to ensure health and safety remains integral to project delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced construction health and safety professional with a strong practical understanding of working on live construction projects.
Ideally, you will have:
- Proven experience in a Construction Health & Safety Manager / Advisor position.
- A recognised health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH Construction or equivalent.
- IOSH membership or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Experience working with site management teams, contractors and subcontractors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours and practices.
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
