Business Development Manager

Nova Scotia

Eastcut Wood Building Solutions – A Macklan Company

Hawthorne Recruitment is proud to partner with Eastcut Wood Building Solutions, part of the Macklan Group of Companies, an organization defined by innovation, integration, and the drive to build stronger communities. Eastcut is reshaping how modern construction happens across Atlantic Canada by delivering high-quality, offsite-manufactured structural components that accelerate projects and elevate outcomes.

This is a new, pivotal commercial role at Eastcut, one that will shape how the organization grows, builds relationships, and brings its structured components to market. Reporting to the COO and GM, and supported by an experienced sales consultant during onboarding, the Business Development Manager will act as both a builder and a strategist. You will help design the commercial approach from the ground up while driving new business across the region. This is the right role for someone who thrives in a scaling environment, loves opening doors, and sees opportunity in the complexity of construction, design, and manufacturing integration.

The Opportunity

The Business Development Manager will deepen Eastcut’s presence across Nova Scotia and beyond by identifying new opportunities, shaping client relationships early, and championing Eastcut’s structural systems, including roof trusses, floor cassettes, wall panels, and modular assemblies. You will be joining at a moment of momentum and transformation. Eastcut is investing heavily in systems, quality, manufacturing sophistication, and cross-Macklan integration. Your work will directly influence growth, revenue, and long-term market position.

Key Responsibilities

●     Build and execute a regional business development strategy aligned with Eastcut’s growth vision.

●     Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across residential, commercial, institutional, and developer sectors.

●     Act as an advisor to clients, understanding their project requirements early and positioning Eastcut’s systems as the solution.

●     Meet with prospective clients to understand technical and design requirements, including gathering blueprints and specifications.

●     Collaborate with estimating, engineering, and production teams to ensure accuracy and alignment from concept through quotation.

●     Prepare and deliver proposals, manage revisions, and pursue orders with discipline and persistence.

●     Shape and strengthen sales processes, reporting structures, and CRM use to support long-term commercial success.

●     Partner with senior leadership to align sales strategy with operational capacity and manufacturing priorities.

●     Bring market intelligence back into the business to inform forecasting, product development, and strategic planning.

About You

You’re a builder at heart and someone who sees possibility where others see complexity. You’re energized by being the first person in a role, shaping structure, and setting a commercial foundation that will support Eastcut for years.

You bring:

●     5+ years of experience in business development or sales within construction, building materials, engineered products, or related sectors.

●     A self-starting approach and comfort operating in a scaling, evolving environment.

●     Strength in relationship-building, technical conversations, and navigating multi-stakeholder environments.

●     Strong organizational skills and the ability to drive opportunities from first contact through to close.

●     Familiarity with CRM tools.

●     A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally.

●     A genuine belief in Eastcut’s purpose: building stronger communities through innovation and quality.

Why This Role Matters

Eastcut is on a path of significant growth. Manufacturing capacity is expanding, systems are maturing, and integration across the Macklan Group is unlocking new ways of delivering value. This Business Development Manager role is a cornerstone in that growth, shaping how clients experience Eastcut and how the market understands its capabilities. This is your opportunity to influence the trajectory of a company that plays a critical role in the future of construction in Atlantic Canada.

If you’re energized by building, relationship-driven by nature, and ready for a role with real impact, we invite you to apply. Please submit your application to Hawthorne Recruitment.
