Functional Analyst – A&C Customer Applications (Insurance Industry)

Location: Hybrid (minimum 2 days/week onsite in Berchem, Belgium)

About the Role

We are seeking a Functional Analyst to join our Customer Applications team within the insurance sector. You will be part of a cross-functional team managing over ten customer-facing applications, contributing to our digital transformation roadmap and enhancing user experience for brokers and partners.

Your focus will be on translating user needs into intuitive, high-quality IT solutions that align with both business objectives and technical standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional analysis, documentation, and testing within the Customer Applications team.
  • Translate business analysis and architectural vision into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Participate in workshops with key stakeholders to collect and clarify requirements.
  • Model and document business processes using use cases and structured documentation (BPMN, UML, etc.).
  • Coordinate and ensure smooth knowledge transfer between business and IT teams.
  • Maintain and align with design guidelines and project standards.
  • Support project delivery within agreed scope, time, and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external (onshore/offshore) partners.

  • Comfortable working in dynamic environments and managing change.
  • Resilient under pressure and flexible in adapting to shifting project priorities.
  • Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English (spoken and written).


Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Functional Analyst, ideally within the insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with BPMN and UML modeling techniques.
  • Experience in Agile environments (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, etc.).
  • Knowledge of design tools (Enterprise Architect, Adonis) or willingness to learn.
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certification (e.g., AZ-900) is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of insurance business processes is essential.


Practical Information

  • Work setup: Hybrid – minimum 2 days onsite per week (Berchem office).
  • Own device: Required.
  • Languages: Dutch (native), English (very good).
