Project Leader – IS Life


Overview

We’re seeking a Project Leader to join the Life Information Systems division, driving multiple projects related to life insurance products, underwriting, and claims management. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with a deep understanding of IT project delivery in complex environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate multiple technology projects across the Life IS portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, stakeholder engagement, and communication plans.
  • Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with business and technical teams.
  • Manage and challenge business requirements, ensuring efficient and value-driven solutions.
  • Oversee architecture planning, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.
  • Monitor progress and report regularly on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks proactively, maintaining control over scope, timing, and budget.
  • Foster collaboration, motivation, and skill development within multidisciplinary teams.


Requirements


Education

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience managing IT projects, ideally within large-scale environments (>1000 person-days).
  • Proven track record of end-to-end project delivery.
  • Experience in the insurance industry or data warehouse (DWH) projects is a strong plus.


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Cobol, .NET, or mainframe environments is advantageous.


Methodologies

  • Certified or practical experience with Prince2.
  • Strong experience in Waterfall, with exposure to Agile/Scrum considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of test management principles or business analysis preferred.

Languages

  • English: Good proficiency (spoken, written, and read).
  • Dutch and/or French: One fluent, the other at least basic level.


Location & Work Arrangement

  • Brussels (2 days on-site per week)
  • Remote: 3 days per week


Contract Details

  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: 12 months (possible extension)
