Industry: Air Traffic Management / Public Sector

Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid) or Fully Remote

Contract Type: Freelance

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Long-term mission

Language Requirements: English (required)

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Git Repository Administrator with strong Perl scripting expertise to support a mission-critical development environment within a large and complex organization. This is not a development role — we’re looking for someone who thrives in infrastructure tooling, version control management, and scripting for automation.

You’ll be responsible for administering Git repositories, streamlining workflows, and supporting CI/CD integration in coordination with development and tooling teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Git repositories (access control, branching strategy, integrations)
  • Support developers and teams in version control best practices
  • Write and maintain Perl scripts to automate Git-related tasks and tooling
  • Monitor repository health and compliance through audits and policy enforcement
  • Troubleshoot Git issues and enhance repository performance
  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, reliable environments

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven Git administration experience (not just usage), ideally in large or regulated environments
  • Strong Perl scripting experience (minimum 3 years required)
  • Solid understanding of GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket
  • CI/CD integration experience (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Comfortable in Linux (preferably RHEL) command-line environments
  • Good understanding of SCM (Software Configuration Management) practices
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, structured, and reliable team contributor

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in secure or mission-critical environments
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
