Senior IT Buyer
Join a global procurement organisation supporting a multinational industrial business. You will be positioned within the IT & Telco category and will work closely with the IT organisation and business stakeholders to ensure technology-services and communications are bought efficiently, at the right quality and aligned to business need.
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage the full buying cycle for IT & Telco goods and services: from requirement receipt, sourcing, purchase order placement, through to delivery and invoice reconciliation.
- Receive and analyse IT business and technical purchasing requests (hardware, software, cloud, telecoms services, network equipment) and translate them into supplier-specifications and bidding requirements.
- Select and engage vendors: issue RFQs/RFPs, evaluate bids, secure pricing and commercial terms that meet TCO, service level, and compatibility requirements.
- Issue purchase orders, ensure timely follow-up, track delivery/dates, coordinate receipt of goods or services, and manage exceptions (delays, non-compliance, quality issues).
- Maintain vendor listings, monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, contract compliance, cost variation), escalate issues and support remediation.
- Support contract management for IT & Telco: assist in drafting purchase contracts and service agreements, attaching standard procurement terms, ensure contracts are correctly stored and referenced for buying decisions.
- Conduct cost / spend analysis: benchmark pricing, identify cost-saving or bundling opportunities, manage catalogue or standard item lists for repeat purchases.
- Partner with IT operations and business users to assure purchasing aligns to technology strategy, asset lifecycles and support models.
- Ensure all IT buying activities adhere to internal procurement policies, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Utilise procurement systems and tools (P2P, vendor portals, spend dashboards) to process requisitions, manage ordering and report on buying metrics.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to internal stakeholders on how to raise IT buying requests, and work with the procurement centre for escalations if required.

- Excellent negotiation skills, vendor-management capability and commercial awareness.
- Strong analytical skills (spend analysis, benchmarking) and ability to work with internal systems/tools for purchasing, reporting and dashboards.
