Apply for this job

Career Staffing Talent (CST) has been retained to lead a confidential search for a Senior Financial Controller on behalf of a high-growth healthcare organization based in Davie, Florida.

Compensation: $135,000 – $155,000 base, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate

Location: Davie, FL — 100% on-site

Reports to: CFO

Direct reports: 5

The Opportunity

Our client distributes healthcare products directly to patients nationally. This is not a maintenance seat. The business recently transitioned to NetSuite and needs a hands-on accounting leader to build out the platform, stand up AP and AR from a largely manual state, and own inventory accuracy across three distinct affiliated entities with meaningful intercompany and balance-sheet complexity and no consolidation.

Because the CFO operates in a fractional capacity, this role carries unusual visibility and autonomy. It is a credible path toward a CFO seat for the right operator.

What You'll Own

  • Close and reporting — Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple affiliated entities. Prepare US GAAP financial statements and present results with variance commentary to the CFO.
  • Systems build-out — Lead the NetSuite build-out and configuration; maintain the chart of accounts and GL structure.
  • AP redesign — Resolve the current AP backlog and error exposure; stand up a standardized, automated workflow with real controls.
  • AR from the ground up — Replace ad hoc, memo-based collections with automated invoicing, collections, and dispute resolution.
  • Inventory and operations — Learn the product flow from receiving through fulfillment. Partner with warehouse, purchasing, and operations so inventory is accurate and correctly reflected in the ERP. Own inventory accuracy, adjustments, write-offs, and shrinkage as a core deliverable.
  • Audit and controls — Serve as primary contact for external auditors and CPA firms; maintain audit readiness year-round. Design controls across ordering, receiving, and inventory. Handle Florida state and sales tax nexus considerations.
  • Team leadership — Directly manage five finance professionals; set expectations, review work, and build capability. Drive a culture of documentation, accountability, and urgency.
  • External relationships — Own key vendor and client relationships around payment timing and dispute resolution; support the CFO on diligence and banking relationships.

How Success Is Measured

Operational outcomes, not just reporting metrics. Close timeliness and audit readiness are baseline. The leading indicators are:

  • Inventory accuracy — cycle-count variance and shrinkage reduction
  • Reduction in AP errors and backlog
  • Share of receivables moved onto a formal, automated AR process
  • NetSuite implementation milestones delivered on time
  • Documented, automated process coverage across AP, AR, and inventory controls

The initial period is tied to completion of defined operational milestones, not tenure.

Ideal Background

  • 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including controller-level ownership
  • Proven track record personally implementing or migrating an ERP — not solely overseeing an implementation team. NetSuite strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting: US GAAP, monthly and annual close, financial statement preparation, hands-on audit liaison
  • Demonstrated experience fixing AP/AR processes and building controls from scratch, ideally in a business with physical inventory or warehouse operations
  • Distribution, wholesale, or other inventory-intensive industry experience is a significant advantage (not required)
  • Multi-entity and intercompany accounting; comfort with balance-sheet-heavy environments and PO/inventory-heavy systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial requirements to non-financial staff including warehouse, purchasing, and fulfillment teams
  • Ability to operate with limited oversight and drive initiatives to completion without direction
  • Interest in progressing toward a CFO role

Work Environment

On-site in Davie, Florida. Expect to divide time between desk-based accounting work and regular presence on the warehouse and operations floor. The pace is set by close cycles, audit timelines, CFO reporting deadlines, and operational turnaround goals.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $135,000 – $155,000 base, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate
  • 401(k) with up to 4% match
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Paid time off that increases with tenure
