Controller - Financial Services

Career Staffing Talent (CST) is conducting a confidential search for a hands-on Controller on behalf of a growing specialty-finance / private-lending platform headquartered in Midtown Manhattan.
This is a highly visible, operational accounting role for a professional who can manage daily cash activity, full-cycle bookkeeping, repayment administration, investor-related reporting, and regulatory compliance across multiple entities. The Controller will work closely with leadership, operations, and processing teams to maintain strong financial controls in a high-volume lending environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily collections activity, cash-position reporting, and bank transfers supporting new loan fundings.
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping across operating accounts and multiple legal entities.
- Administer the repayment lifecycle, including loan setup, payment adjustments, refunds, renewals, and related funding activity.
- Maintain syndication records and investor-position tracking.
- Process commission payments, accounts payable, expenses, and liability reporting.
- Coordinate state lending-license renewals and regulatory filings, including NMLS and DFPI reporting.
- Prepare annual compliance-related filings, including 1099s.
- Partner with processing and operations teams on transaction support, collections coverage, and day-to-day issue resolution.
- Establish and maintain a reliable compliance and reporting calendar.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting foundation with demonstrated ownership of full-cycle bookkeeping.
- Experience managing multiple bank accounts, entities, reconciliations, and day-to-day cash movement.
- Comfortable operating in a high-transaction-volume environment involving fundings, repayments, collections, and transfers.
- Hands-on Salesforce experience, ideally supporting deal, borrower, payment, or repayment tracking.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with business banking platforms.
- High level of discretion in handling sensitive financial, borrower, and investor information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Background
- Specialty finance, private lending, commercial lending, mortgage lending, fund administration, or other transaction-intensive financial-services experience.
- Experience with NMLS filings, state lending licensure, DFPI reporting, or comparable regulatory compliance requirements.
- CPA or CPA-track credentials are a plus.
