Role: Senior Product Designer @ F100 - make AI-powered tools in a diverse, friendly culture

Location: Hybrid onsite Tues-Thurs in NYC - close to all transit options

Note: No visa transfers / no relocation available at this time

The client:

Picture this: a heart-led, empathy-focused company with millions of customers, that’s also a venerable, 200-year-old, F100 InsureTech company. They’ve got incredible resources, a friendly and inclusive culture, and they support their employees like few other employers do!

This is a place where diversity and humanity are deeply rooted values in their company culture. They have incredible benefits - including solid health coverage, 6 month parental leave, 401K matching, and a pension, to name a few highlights.

They have been named one of Fortune’s “World’s Most Admired Companies”, are in the top 50 companies in Forbes’ 2024 “America’s Best Employers for Diversity”, and received a score of 100 out of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “2025 Corporate Equality Index”, which measures LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

They are in the midst of massive growth and expansion, building out a bevy of 0 to 1 products as well as innovating on their legacy products, so it’s a great time to get in the door to build impactful products at a massive scale.

The role:

This is a rare chance to design AI-powered tools that directly shape people’s lives. The company's field agents operate as small business owners — helping individuals and families plan for retirement, protect what matters, and build long-term financial security. You’ll be working on the platform that supports these agents’ day-to-day success — and in turn, impacts millions of financial journeys for individuals and families.

The products you work on touch every stage of an agent's professional life: how they grow, how they collaborate with others, and how they eventually pass the torch. You'll join a team that's central to delivering tools that make the agents’ day to day work lives easier, more enjoyable, and more successful - while evolving the company’s design center of excellence.

You’ll report into an accomplished and empathic Director of Product Design (who we know personally and adore!), who will help set you up for success. You’ll also collaborate closely with a dedicated Manager of Design Systems— while giving you the autonomy to do great work independently.

What you’ll do:

Design across a meaningful product suite — The work spans career development tools for agents, teaming and collaboration platforms, succession planning experiences, and AI-powered tools that are reshaping how agents work.

Take ownership from concept to handoff — Turn ambiguous, complex problems into clear, polished, production-ready designs with thorough specs, edge cases, and component-level documentation.

Collaborate deeply with Engineering — You'll bring enough fluency in front-end concepts — HTML, CSS, component-based frameworks — to talk the talk, stay engaged through implementation, and make sure the final build lives up to the design. You’re not a hands-on coder, per se, but you understand what can and can’t be built, and how to collaborate with Eng successfully.

Help shape a growing Design System — Contribute components and patterns to the Design System as the team evolves its system around a new brand look and feel, expanding coverage across field products. You don’t need to have owned a DS before, but certainly contributing to DS and getting under the hood with them is a strong plus.

Bring clarity to ambiguity — You thrive in ambiguity, and you’d work across multiple products and initiatives at once, moving fluidly between problem spaces and bringing structure and momentum to whatever lands on your plate.

Preferred background:

  • Ideally 3-5+ years of relevant Product Design experience
  • A background in insurance, financial services, healthcare and/or other highly regulated spaces, preferably with some experience at a large, matrixed organization
  • Design System experience (see above)
  • Strong experience collaborating with Eng and knowing what can / can’t be built with code (while you’re not a hands-on coder yourself, most likely)
  • Thrive in ambiguity and have done 0 to 1 builds, preferably at enterprise-level scale (M’s of users)
  • Strong skills in Figma; very hands on
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across the company

Like to haves:

  • In addition to large company experience, experience from a tech-forward startup or a fast-paced, high-end agency
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines
  • Some experience working with AI, either in your own design process, and/or for AI-powered products you’ve designed. You have a natural curiosity and willingness to experiment with AI

Logistics:

  • Location: Hybrid with onsite 3 days/week (Tues-Thurs) in NYC
  • Portfolio required, preferably showing complex dashboard / workflow work
  • Generous benefits include 401K match and pension, career development, tuition reimbursement, fertility benefits, parental benefits whether through birth, adoption, foster care, or surrogacy, wellness benefits including onsite amenities
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA (sorry, no visa assistance or transfers offered at this time)
  • Comp: up to 143K all-in (which includes base + bonus) - and, this is not an absolute cap, as you can make more than 100% of your bonus for excellent work
