Location: Hybrid onsite Tues-Thurs in NYC

Note: No visa transfers / no relocation available at this time

The client:

Picture this: a heart-led, empathy-focused company with millions of customers, that’s also a venerable, 200-year-old, F100 InsureTech company. They’ve got incredible resources, a friendly and inclusive culture, and they support their employees like few other employers do!

This is a place where diversity and humanity are deeply rooted values in their company culture. They have incredible benefits - including solid health coverage, 6 month parental leave, 401K matching, and a pension, to name a few highlights.

They have been named one of Fortune’s “World’s Most Admired Companies”, are in the top 50 companies in Forbes’ 2024 “America’s Best Employers for Diversity”, and received a score of 100 out of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “2025 Corporate Equality Index”, which measures LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

They are in the midst of massive growth and expansion, building out a bevy of 0 to 1 products as well as innovating on their legacy products, so it’s a great time to get in the door to build impactful products at a massive scale.

The role:

Director of Product Design, agentic AI-enabled sales platform - new team, new role!

  • You'll manage the creation of a brand new, end-to-end enterprise platform that drastically improves and streamlines the workflows of the company’s field agents, which will have the overall effect of impacting M’s of end users
  • Past experience creating dashboards and/or workflow management tools (as evidenced in your portfolio) is essential
  • You’ll oversee 3 designers (1 Lead + 2 Midlevels), and potentially have a hand in hiring them depending on timing
  • The role is more managerial than it is hands on, so it’s not a true “player / coach” role, but the ideal candidate can still hop into Figma to set design direction and help illustrate design directions (but not responsible for production-level, pixel-perfect design)
  • Some degree of working on agentic AI tools for 1+ years is a big plus- the tool itself will have agentic AI baked in, to autofill and predict certain workflows for the agents.
  • They’re also looking for someone to bring a strong AI-enabled design process to the table, to help uplevel the entire Design department’s AI prowess.
  • If you’re regularly using Figma Make, Claude Code, Lovable, Vercel, Magic Patterns, and/or vibe coding on the regular, that’s a big plus.
  • You've got Product Design chops to handle the heavy-duty UX / Product Design behind this site - this will be complicated, high-functionality design.
  • You love working in ambiguity - while the “4-5 years in the future state” of the product is already mostly known, you are the instrumental leader to figure out how to lead your team to get from Point A to B - the fun stuff!

Preferred background:

  • Ideally 10+ years of relevant design experience
  • 3-4 minimum years of formalized management experience, overseeing teams of 2-4 ICs
  • A background in InsureTech, financial services, healthcare and/or other highly regulated spaces, preferably with some experience at a large, matrixed organization
  • Some additional experience from a tech-forward startup or a fast-paced, high-end agency is also welcome
  • Must have excellent skills in stakeholder management, running workshops both internal and external to design, and know how to evangelize for Design within a larger, enterprise org
  • You have led design at scale (ie: millions of users, ideally)
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines is highly useful

Logistics:

  • Location: Hybrid onsite Tues-Thurs in NYC
  • Portfolio required
  • Generous benefits include 401K match and generous pension, career development, tuition reimbursement, fertility benefits, parental benefits whether through birth, adoption, foster care, or surrogacy, wellness benefits including onsite amenities
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA (no visa assistance offered at this time)
  • Salary: $190,000 - $230,000 all in pay (which includes base + bonus)
